Volunteers
Interested in Volunteering at VCHC?
The Vaughan Community Health Centre (VCHC) values its volunteers as essential contributors to the organization. Volunteers bring diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences that strengthen and expand our ability to deliver services. Therefore, VCHC is dedicated to recruiting volunteers, managing them with respect and efficiency, and recognizing their valuable contributions.
If you’re passionate about supporting the physical, mental, and social health of Vaughan residents and their communities, we encourage you to download our Volunteer Application Form and submit it to Kelly Lo. Prospective volunteers will need to attend an interview and orientation and provide the following: 1) Vulnerable Sector Screening Check; 2) Proof of Negative Tuberculosis Status and immunity to preventable diseases; 3) Two references. For further details, please refer to VCHC’s Volunteer Manual.
As volunteer positions become available, we will reach out to candidates whose skills and interests align with our needs. Additionally, please check back here for updates on future volunteer opportunities.
For more information on VCHC’s volunteer policies and procedures, please review our Volunteer Manual.
More about volunteering
Medical volunteering in Canada is not difficult but this type of volunteering has many barriers. But these barriers are a good natural selection for volunteers because in the end, there are only those who really want to do it.
A hospital volunteer needs to pass a number of filters to get into a medical organization. For example, volunteers must check for infectious diseases; if volunteers go to a children’s hospital, they must have a certificate of vaccinations. These are objective barriers.
Most of the volunteers are girls between the ages of 19 and 24. This is a normal indicator since today women dominate among both volunteers and medical personnel in Canada.
What do medical volunteers get?
- Ability to help people and be useful to their country;
- New skills and competencies required for professional activities in the healthcare sector;
- Teamwork experience, ability to find compromises and solve problems;
- Bright acquaintances and reliable friends;
- Development of their talents and abilities;
- Participation in major All-Canadian forums and promotions.
